This year has been very eventful so
far. In April, Chris and I got involved in a wedding
between our Belgium exchange son, Mario and his fiancé Wendy in Spain
(religious) and Belgium (legal). They
invited us (and expected us to come) because we attended our Ecuadorian son's
(Gabriel) wedding to Mari V in Ecuador.
Gabriel was there to help us celebrate these wedding ceremonies. Mario's parents were very gracious and
involved us in many dinners and dancing.
It was fun. Because of the wedding, we took a couple of extra
weeks in Europe to visit some other special people. We visited our wonderful Finnish exchange
daughter Kaisa who showed us Helsinki, Turku, and Tampere. While in Helsinki, we visited her brother
and our exchange son Jarkko and his girl friend. In Turku, we got to visit Kaisa's generous
parents and she took us on a 12 hour "picnic" trip on the
ferry. In Tampere, we saw where Kaisa
lives and studies as well as visiting with Kimmo (Jarkko's brother). Bob Poel not only gave us a place to stay in the
Netherlands but showed us his beautiful country and made our stay very
enjoyable. The end of April, I went back to Centerville, IA to
help our son, Michael, and his family to pack up, load and move to Bellevue
and our home. It certainly sounds
quick but was not. We are enjoying them in our house now. |
